She swung her knife and it hit the eraser in front of her. It clawed at her, scratching through her shirt, and she felt heavy red blood spill onto her chest. A deadly crack to its neck, and she had moved on. Two ribs stuck awkwardly out of her side, and three slashes marked her shoulder.
BANG.
The bullet came faster than she could think. She screamed, startled, and retreated from the loud noise. But then she noticed that he had fallen. His eyes were wide, then they were closed, and in that instant, she knew he'd been hit.
The world fell to suspended motion, and she ran to his side. Her ears were blocked by the rush of adrenaline in her head, and she couldn't hear Scream's warning to get away. Her eyes were wide open, but she couldn't see anything but his face. The happy, strong face that had smiled at her such a short time ago, was pale and lifeless, lying on the ground in the middle of an alley.
She couldn't touch him though. Her fear was ahead of her, and she was panicking. Her hearing was slowly returning, but she could barely hear Scream say, "Rave, we need to go!"
A moaning cry escaped from her mouth, and she gripped her hands into fists. She panicked and began to flail her limbs around in shock. Her wings flapped, creating gusts of wind. "No!" She cried, reflexively rejecting the event. "Ike! Get up! GET UP!"
She threw herself onto the ground, her body shuddering with sobs. The flock had sprung into action around her, and the attacker was retreating, due to the sheer number of kids. Dani, Scream and Sarah had appeared at her side. Sarah sat down next to Rave. A tear fell from her eye, and then Sophie appeared. "IKE!" She screamed, and set his body on her knee.
"He's... not... he's not... dead. He's not..." Rave repeated to herself. "HE'S NOT! HE CAN'T BE!" She still sobbed on the ground, and the flock mourned around her. Sophie had begun to cry as well.
"Flock," She said between breaths, "We've lost a valuable member. All he wanted to do was understand the world around him, and now, we need to move on. For him, and for the future... of the new flock!"

i love the shading and detail! drawing and shading is so hard with pencils when you have to use a scanner! great job!
